During the few free moments between now and Monday I want to post what I have found so far. I ran across this page http://www.rurdev.usda.gov/rbs/oa/1890.htm and dropped Mike Howard a note to see if UMO participates in the program. Apparently they do not, but as a landgrant university theoretically they can. The program seems directed toward ag co-ops.

I have also discovered several food co-ops here in Aroostook and I am trying to catch people home to verify the contact info, inform them of our existence, web page and blog and to set up a meeting of all interested prior to our June meeting. I also found http://www.cooplife.coop/index.html
but the page has not been updated since fall 2005 - hope we can do better than that. Also found the Northeast Co-operative Council newsletter; interestingly Maine Potato Growers is part of the Council. From the way MPG operates, one would never know they are still a co-op. http://cooperatives.aem.cornell.edu/pdf/CoopNotes/cn_20_1.pdf
Also stumbled across REGINA which is supposed to be a list of co-ops and co-operative friendly groups. My quick search of the site http://www.find.coop/ yielded a bad email address to a company here in Presque Isle and a list of other non co-op groups for this area.

Will keep everyone posted of the progress here in The County.
